🎓 Rockschool Graded Exam Success

This term, many of our 1-2-1 students stepped up to take their Rockschool graded music exams – and the results have blown us away. Every single one achieved MERIT or above, a testament to their talent, dedication, and hard work. Huge congratulations to:

  • Rupert – Guitar Debut

  • Tommy – Guitar Grade 1

  • Louis – Guitar Debut

  • Rainbow – Guitar Debut

🎶 Mondays at The Edge Theatre, Chorlton

Our two groups at The Edge have been making great strides this term.
Group 1 tackled Wonderwall by Oasis, mastering tricky chord changes, rhythm patterns and vocals with growing confidence and teamwork.

Group 2 took on Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin – no small feat! They've also been revisiting Shotgun and Thunder, while exploring music theory and even dabbling in early songwriting. A well-rounded term for some seriously dedicated young musicians.

🎸 Saturday Band Sessions at Kingdom Life Youth Centre

Our Saturday sessions have been alive with energy, creativity and collaboration.

  • 11am Group worked on Believer by Imagine Dragons and Lucky Man by The Verve, showing fantastic commitment to building strong band chemistry.

  • 12pm Group delved into improvisation and jam sessions, finding their sound while rocking out to Come Together by The Beatles.

🎵 Oswald Primary After-School Clubs

It’s been a jam-packed term of fun and progress across all our Oswald groups:

  • Monday Y4–6 Guitar Gang have been refining Stitches and Live Forever, while learning how to write tablature and explore the fretboard like pros.

  • Tuesday Y2–3 Guitar Gang have added singing and rhythm games into the mix while tackling Shake It Off – sessions full of laughter and learning.

  • Wednesday Rock n Roll Choir built a five-song repertoire this term – an amazing achievement in such a short time!

  • Thursday Rock Band have polished Sunflower and made great progress on Highway to Hell, with two performance-ready songs almost under their belt.

  • Friday Rockulele Group continue to impress, exploring the versatility of four-chord songs while mastering trickier techniques and showing brilliant practice habits.

🎸 Alderbrook Primary School Sessions

This term was all about guitar!

Pupils learned how to hold and play the instrument correctly, using both strumming and picking techniques. Rhythm games helped develop timing and coordination, and more advanced groups began working on songs like Sit Down and the 12 Bar Blues. Some groups even began fretting notes and forming their first chords – amazing progress in just one term!

🎤 St Mary’s Primary School

Both school bands have reached performance level with two full songs each – a fantastic achievement. With some complex parts and musical intricacies to master, the groups rose to the challenge with maturity and enthusiasm. Week-on-week memory recall and musical discipline have been a standout feature this term, and their end-of-term performances showcased just how far they’ve come.

☀️ What’s Next?

After a packed Spring, we’re looking forward to recharging over Easter and coming back full of energy for our most exciting term yet! The countdown begins to our big We Will Rock You summer gig, where all our amazing young musicians will come together to share their songs, celebrate their progress and rock out in front of friends and family.

Stay tuned for more updates – and don’t forget to save the date!
